A look at the seven deadly sins. (1 of 7)
#1– [Lust] Described as an intense longing, the most common vision is of a sexual thirst or hunger, but arguments can be made that it could also refer to money, power, drugs or fame.
In this age of Generation Alpha I find religion remains significant in the world as a whole, but in the U.S. people identifying as non-religious or exploring alternative spiritual paths is increasing.

I fall into the later as I haven’t been to church for decades, most of my life actually. I have pursued money and drugs and vice verse. A sad note on my journey was as a teenager I was told by a pastor that I was the devil and told to leave.
I’m sure in his eyes he was right, in my eyes not so much but maybe. I was rolling a joint for after church and got bumped, the joint went into the air and without thinking I blurt “Mo&^%r”. So yes I will have to explain that someday but it’s probably towards the bottom of a long list.
I just question the authority of priests, pastors and such as that. I believe they have lists much worse than mine. As far as “church” goes I believe isn’t a building but a communal gathering to worship our Lord. Many times I have prayed with one or two people and yes I believe we were holding church.
Power is a form of lust that has plagued man kind since time began and today it is still at the top of the chain. Anyone with a opinion can now be in a position to gain power without regard of good or evil. For an example look back at the November 18th 1978 “Jonestown Massacre” where over 900 followers committed cyanide suicide on the power of one man.
Or another way to see it is look at the power of the leaders of the USA. Only the POTUS (president) is regulated to two terms in office before moving on. This leaves 535 voting members of Congress to make the laws we live by and they have made careers of abusing this power. Absolutism or absolute position of power is not only dangerous but left unchecked leads to the failure of democracy.
I’m in no position to judge anyone for their actions when they don’t involve me but I do judge. This is probably another one on my list but according to the Catholic church and most of Christianity this mighty list of seven leads to eternal death. SINS 1 ME 0
