Simply Saturday

Coffee First

Woke up early this morning and I am just letting thoughts run through my head on this post. Today’s coffee is good but not quite what I’m used to.

Maxwell House just isn’t as strong as I prefer so until I get my lazy butt up and out the door to get my Starbucks dark roast beans I’ll settle for this. Should I maybe have called this Saturday Settles? I can’t start that heavy thinking this early as it would make me dizzy.

Pills Second

Ok, got my coffee poured and cooling down so I don’t burn the roof of my mouth or tongue. Now for the forty-three pills (only 7) I take daily for reasons only the “Doc” understands.

I have type 2 diabetes and between injections and pills I am trying to keep it under control but Coca-Cola and Klondike bars are the evil delicious forbidden sweets I succumb to.

In the evening I have to follow up with 2 more pills and on Sunday morning I hit the belly with Mounjaro .

On to the Next

This sounded like a easy listen to kick start my day. I have always liked Tommy James and the Shondells.

‘Crimson and Clover” , “I think were alone now”, “Draggin’ the line” and “Mony Mony” are all great songs from an era when love was in the air.

A quick note on “Mony Mony”, the songs title was inspired by Tommy’s view of the sign atop of the Mutual of New York Building on the New York skyline from his Manhattan apartment.

Cartoon Memories

When I was in a younger body it would be Corn Flakes and Bull Winkle for me! In front of the T.V. for the next couple of hours until Mom decided we needed to get out from under her or Dad would declare we were off to the Barber Shop to get the dreaded “Buzz cut” or worse yet the “pineapple”.

Afternoons

After cartoons it would be off to explore the many ways we could enjoy the day that presented so many possibilities to pass the day. Collect pop bottles for cash, re-build a bicycle, disappear on a all day exploration of new neighborhoods, just being kids. At least once every summer there would be a trip to the ER for stitches or worse.

As Archie and Edith Bunker always sang “Those were the Days”.

Fast Forward

Fifty years sped by but I was able to enjoy most of it, some points not so much. The high spots are too many to mention or maybe just for another post.

Oh well I do know this…Spring is teasing us in Michigan this year with temps jumping up and down. Another week of 40’s and 50’s keeping my bones chilled & this WordPress blog to help the mind and soul keep warm.

Thank you my friend for taking the time to read this and hopefully leave a comment as to what you think about this post or the site in general.

Enjoy your Saturday,
