Anger Amplified

A look at the seven deadly sins. {4 of 7}

#4 {Wrath} – Also known as anger amplified, it is a powerful and intense emotional state of mind that becomes the predominant reaction to injustice. The Catechism says that “If anger reaches the point of a deliberate desire to kill or seriously wound a neighbor, it is gravely against charity; it is a mortal sin.”

A Youngin’

I have seen my share of Wrath in the past from many angles and it is never pretty and most times damn straight ugly. My anger as a child usually developed from a fear of something or someone imagined causing harm to myself or close loved ones.

I’ve often heard the term “The wrath of that child!” and have seen children that was showing wrath at usually one of their siblings but sometimes a parent.

Not me, My parents didn’t play that shit, you showed respect to elders, be it the old man down the street or your older brothers and sisters.

But the parents weren’t always around were they?

No… I held my anger in check as much as I could but there was a demon deep inside me that presented itself when the opportunity arose. Sadly I became a bully in junior high school but regressed in my sophomore year after my father’s death.

I withdrew from society and at the same time put a bulls-eye /spotlight on myself. The next two years I was the one being bullied, so yeah both sides of the coin.

The Age of entry

Enter the age of entry. The tavern scene and me baby…whew. Jack and Jim chasing Jose’ could almost guarantee the wrath of someone before the night was over. There were many broken bones and bite marks all around.

And even sober, an example: I drove semi across country and for three years I had a weekly route from Bluffton IN to Riverhead NY and the wrath I had for people on the GW and beyond was barely contained “ROAD RAGE” .

I went into some detail about my bout of wrath with God in my post “Breaking it Down”, and the results impacted were of great importance in my future growth. I have come to believe wrath is on this list because it is a uncontrollable form of anger that leads to a breaking of the ten commandants and morality.

Response

Anger can be seen as a gateway to wrath and we humans as as whole need to try hard to keep our anger converted to happiness and love. SINS 3 ME 1
