Flashback of a Decade

Do you dream about the future? I do but I also reminisce about the past often finding myself wanting the “Best of both worlds”. When this happens do you think of how it would affect your decisions today or how the world would be if ?

Take a time travel trip with me to explore the 70’s and beyond remembered by an altered mind.

The magical eight-ball! Who among you shook this thing silly before asking where/who your soul mate was? I used to ask this thing all kinds of questions just to read the answer. Damn it man, that can’t be right so ask it again…sound familiar? Tell me about it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

And the music, well I still listen to the genres from this decade mostly on vinyl purchased back then although I don’t have much disco. I leaned more towards rock, funk and jazz. Almost forgot Motown!

I had a beauty kinda’ like this as a child in the late 60s, early seventies and yes that is AM only. I could only find 1 channel that played rock back then WLYV. It also came with an ear plug to get me in trouble with.

Black lights and the wild posters we had access to back then, can you say “groovy” and tell me one of your experience’s from this era?

Did you see the eight ball in here? Held in Uncle Sam’s bottom left hand! Not sure but I think incense is in the upper left hand, what cha think? We used to spend summers in a daze from smoking marijuana and enjoying tea with Boonesfarm Strawberry wine, just staring at posters in a dark room filled with music, black lights and maybe a strobe or two tossed in.

There were a lot of fun and interesting things to learn and enjoy during the turbulent 1970’s and to be part of the most evolving decade as far as divided progress goes was a exciting time to grow into adulthood, wouldn’t you agree? Among all of the hustle, disco and sunny afternoons we waited for it, yes the best game to ever give to teenagers and young adults?

That’s right baby, Twister. The original get your horny on! Be truthful now, girls would giggle and guys would elbow each other all the while anticipating the wild positions and closeness of the opposite sex. Do you dream about the past? A time when power was in the streets in more ways than one.

Although the attitude of the sixties rolled into the seventies there were significant changes such as the OPEC oil embargo and Energy crisis which led to the decline of “muscle cars” and brought us a 55 M.P.H. speed limit nationwide that wasn’t fully repelled until 1995.

Soon I will be facing another decade of the seventies as time flies by and 70 is just a blink or two away. I can only hope and pray that this time around is half as fun.
