Top 25 -> 19 – 21
I was out yesterday and found some albums in a second hand shop that were in really good shape so I purchased them for two dollars apiece and after getting them home and cleaned, I spun them on the turntable. Here is a favorite from a time long ago.
# 19 – Conway Twitty – Between Blue Eyes and Jeans
Harold Lloyd Jenkins was granted life on September 1, 1933 in the time of the great depression. 59 years later we all were saddened from the death of this great voice. Conway was a pioneer of the Rockabilly sounds but fame found him in the sounds of Country Western music and best know for his duets with another great singer Loretta Lynn.
#20 – Neil Diamond – Forever in Bluejeans
Over 130 million records sold worldwide with 10 number 1 hits on the Billboard top 100 makes the statement stand that this is a force to be reckoned with. His first success came with “Sunday and Me” a song written for Jay and the Americans in 1965 and continuing with the Monkee’s top hits including “I’m a Believer” and “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You.” You can find more info in a future post here at DDR. {dawgy daddy Responds}.
# 21 – Ozark Mountain Daredevils – Jackie Blue
Another fantastic band to grow up listening to. OMD had a unique sound and produced many great songs. Formed in 1972 the band hailed from Springfield Missouri. their two most famous hits are “If You Wanna Get to Heaven” 1974 and “Jackie Blue” which hit the charts in 1975. Although they were a under rated band they rocked us hard. Check out these two favs of mine, “E.E. Lawson” or “Chicken Train” to feel what you are missing.
“He got him a band” and I got lost in the sounds. I enjoyed these three bands and will have to break em’ out to clean and spin. Got E.E. Lawson stuck in my head now damn it. O well the cure for that is this.
#22 – David Bowie – Blue Jean
Well, this leaves us at the back door and close to quitting time on the countdown. What needs to be said about Bowie? Only that he was solid class with amazing style.
