The Love You Lost

You told me you didn’t want me, no siree
And that you didn’t need me, so let you be
The man that I am gave you free release
Bid you farewell and wished you peace
I went on to live a pretty good life, happy and free
I did the things that were exciting and new for me
My life has purpose beyond what I ever dreamed
My morals are good and I have high self-esteem
Loneliness froze your heart but sharpened your eye
I met your husband and I felt sorry for that guy
Your tone was so cruel as you lashed out at him
And then you cornered me to confess your sin
The tale you spun would have a spider amazed
You said you wished we could go back to older day’s
The rearview mirror is the only place your gonna see
The love you lost when you lost me
This was wrote somewhere in the mid 90s
until next time –
