This diverse city has been fun and exciting to visit in the past and go to the Blues Fest. then onto Maxwell St. or catch a ball game, maybe go to Buddy Guys Legends. And not to forget the multiple museums it offers.

Chicago has become a crazed mess of murder and mayhem. At the end of 2023 the homicide rate in Chicago (one of the most segregated cities in the country) was 20 times higher for Black residents than it was for white residents, but is way to high for either.

The share of homicide victims over age 30 has increased significantly since 2019, from 41% to 53%.

Recent homicide rate:

2020 – 774 up 50% from 2019
2021 – 797 deadliest year in past 25 years
2022 – 725
2023 – still a critical problem in the windy city.

A 53% murder rate for victims over 30 scare the shit out of me as I’m double that age plus and at this age I no longer am impressed with violence.
