My oldest sister Jan {RIP} brought me home from the hospital in 1996 after I was released from a gunshot wound to my right knee. She spent the better part of a year helping me learn to walk and taking care of me.
At one point in this journey she got tired of me doing “wheelies” with my wheel chair, conned me into moving into a rocker and then swiped my wheel chair away quickly and laughingly told me that shit would stop now! lol She would nervously wait on me to tip or fall over and it drove her nuts.
I find this a hard prompt as I had 5 older siblings and all have done positive things for me in this journey so I feel I need to add a brief about each of them or they might roll over and ghost me.
I will list these in order of age.
Jerry- {RIP} At one point in his life Jerry was a sheriff deputy and he had some fellow officers follow me around Indianapolis IN one week-end while I was there partying to ensure I didn’t hurt anyone or end up in jail.
Jan- {RIP} see above
Carol- This sister would always bring us younger ones home with her for the week-ends when dad would go off on a bender and keep us from harms way. She also has been a big shoulder when I needed one.
Sandy- {RIP} Growing up she was closer in age to me only 5 years my senior but what a great sister. Between the ages of 19 and 22 she had two brain tumors removed and ended up with the mentality of a young child and multiple strokes. She would do anything possible for me throughout her short life-love and miss you sis.
Andy- {RIP} Three years older than me, Andy has done so many positive things it’s hard to pick just one. As a child he was always protecting me from older bullies or maybe the many times he bailed me out of jail. Could it be the time he sat me down and explained that death was a part of life.
Anyway I dice it, all of my siblings have touched me in a positive way and we didn’t even touch on Mothers and Fathers.
