A Tuesday Trip to Tulsa

What’s the best way for me to rise and shine?

Giving thanx to the Lord before everything. After that privilege is finished I am blessed with dark roast Starbucks and the opportunity of choosing my direction for the day.

Today’s Direction

Today we honor the great Don Williams who we lost in 2017 at 78 years of age.

In 1974, he earned the first of 17 Number One singles with the romantic “I Wouldn’t Want to Live If You Didn’t Love Me.”

An internationally popular country star, Williams recorded dozens of hit songs, including “Tulsa Time,” “Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good” and “It Must Be Love.”

Between 1974 and 1991, of the nearly 50 singles he released, all but three reached the Top Ten. In 1976, Williams became an Opry member, and was crowned CMA Male Vocalist of the Year in 1978, with his version of Danny Flowers’ “Tulsa Time” earning CMA Single of the Year. 1991’s “Lord Have Mercy on a Country Boy” ended his streak.

In March 2016, Williams announced he was retiring from touring and cancelled all his scheduled shows. “It’s time to hang my hat up and enjoy some quiet time at home. I’m so thankful for my fans, my friends and my family for their everlasting love and support,” he said in a statement

On September 8, 2017, Williams died in Mobile, Alabama, of emphysema.

What’s your thoughts on Don Williams?
