No Rhyme

Brain Pain

A cauldron slowly brewing a magical drink
Witches cackling laughter as they stir the pot
A potion they said will cure my insecure mind
If I drink it and let it's spell help me think

A twitch of the nose and wink of the eye
They filled a goblet and handed it to me
Drink it all in one gulp was their reply
To 'will it work and please don't lie'

Ten minutes later I was found on the floor
Seeing stars and gasping for a hard breath
Asking questions that made no sense
I soon walked out of the broom and hat store

I made my way home and that is where I stayed
Writing in a new style of verse with pen and ink
I felt uncomfortable while reading this piece
The potion didn't work as my mind freely strayed

So once again I sit here at home while thoughts speed by
I don't understand the rhyme or reason of this poem
Or what style it is written in on this beautiful day
Only knowing that I'm lonely and can't understand why
