I can recall a memorable vacation which I will share here. While living on the Alabama river outside of Montgomery, I would spend my time between swimming and riding “Ester”, my road cruiser. One day a few of us that rode together decided to take Friday, Monday and Tuesday off so we could have a long weekend to use for a mini vacation.

We packed the bikes and set off for Panama City to attend the Thunder Beach rally. We got reservations for a three bedroom condo on the beach and headed out on the road. The trip was relaxing and once we got to the Florida state line we pulled over to remove the brain buckets required in Alabama. Once in ‘Gator country’ we started hitting bars, (“Fudpuckers” was a fun one), in the towns we cruised through on our way to the beach.

Once we arrived at the motel/condo and checked in, The women of our group broke out some joints and lit them up. A couple of minutes later the manager stopped by to let us know she had maintenance place cones out to reserve parking for our bikes. She wasn’t real happy about this and was telling us that it wasn’t allowed in the rooms. I quickly responded with a rejoinder, making her and everyone else crack up with laughter.

After the weekend was over and the crowd had cleared out of town the owner asked us if we wanted to reserve the condo for the spring rally next year, it was the beginning of a long relationship.

I chose this song as Ester & me, we had the love.
