Blues Title – {Episode 6}

Top 25 -> 16 – 18

Things are warming up outside and I’ll try to warm them up in here too, but it’s going to be hard to beat # 13 anyway you look at it. Coming in at number sixteen is another oldie but one that has stood fast through time.

#16 – Eddie Cochran – Summertime Blues

Eddie Cochran was a pioneer in Rock and Roll and his first album on Liberty Records “Sittin’ in the Balcony” reached 18 on the Billboard charts. Paul McCartney picked Eddie’s “Twenty Flight Rock” as his audition piece for what was to become the Beatles.

Eddie Cochran died in a tragic auto accident in England after preforming at a concert. He was just 21. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

#17 – Elvis Presly – Blue Suede Shoes

The “King of Rock and Roll” hit the scenes like a hot comet and burnt through the decades with hits galore and movies topping the charts. It was a hard choice for this as he has many songs with “Blue” in the title.

I got to visit Graceland in my travels and found it amazing and worth the trip. Elvis left us in 1977 at 42 years of age. Ten different prescriptions were in his system but did not contribute to his death according to autopsy reports. He did of a hypertensive Heart disease. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

#18 – Kenny Wayne Sherpard – Blue on Black

This one is a little longer but well worth the listen! His inspiration was the great “Stevie Ray Vaughn” . Noah Hunt accompanied him on vocals for this song. Shepherd’s accolades include five Grammy nominations, two Billboard Music Awards, two Blues Music Awards, and two Orville H. Gibson Awards.

On this beautiful Michigan afternoon it’s in the seventies and I’m toasting 420 at 6:45. We have reached 18 and I’m still enjoying all these videos as I keep going back to them. Let me know what you think about this list.
