Not The Norm…Maybe

Starting Line

I reckon everyone is going to post about this being Memorial Day so I thought I would go off in another direction, but which one? Let’s start off with the Indy 500 yesterday.

A four hour rain delay was just the start of a confused, concerning, creative race. With cautions being the “rule of the road” it has been a long time since I witnessed this fine of a race in Indycar. I don’t watch the whole circuit but try to get this one in when I can.

Bouncing Around

And just like that I’m off into a different direction. Coffee is tasting mighty strong this morning which is something I can never complain about. Sometimes I wonder how coffee ever made it to legal status. I mean this miraculous bean gives us serious energy and that in itself should be a deal breaker for big pharma to contest. “We can make a pill for that with free side effects!”

What’s Cooking?

Can we say hamburgers and hot dogs for bbq anyone? I know that the grills will be fired up across America today except for “Michigan where it’s a rain-out” Myself, I will be having a T-bone with garlic shrimp for dinner tonight. Sounds pretty damn tasty to me.

Book Cover Blues

I’ve stated that I would like to publish a book and told myself “Self, you can do this, no problem” HA, like when I built this site I jumped in the deep end and am paddling like a duck to remain calm above the surface but…

The water line is just above my nose and it seems like I just can’t breathe at points in time. Trim, margins and font size are but little bumps tossed together to make a big speed bump of a learning curve. And those are the tougher courses in this maze of learning I am facing. The easier ones, did I say easy? Let me rephrase. The ones I thought could be tackled with minimum effort turned my altered mind to jelly.

I have a design made for the cover but getting it to the right size and the right fonts is driving me crazy, and what about the spleen? I am using canva to design and build this book and after trial and error I still don’t comprehend how this works. Do I print/set-up the cover as pages? And if I get that far do I set font size at 10- 12 before I download into PDF format? and how in the hell of high watermarks do I find that? Learn, learn, take a break, learn… Any suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Giving Props where Props are Due

You can do it Brother. I had the same issues when I started to venture in creating my books. I went through Amazon Direct Polishing, although it was still difficult to do on my own, the site was getting easier to manage and deal with. If I can do it, anyone can.

The T-Bone and garlic shrimp sounds mighty yummy. Hope you enjoy the meal and Hope you have a Great Day.

  4. What a fun and entertaining post, Ernie, and thanks so much for mentioning my nomination. That was a surprise! My husband watched part of the Indy 500, but we had plans in the afternoon, so he couldn’t watch the whole race. He was bummed, but we saw Los Lobos at a local music venue, so it was worth it. :) Your thoughts on coffee are hilarious and true, and your dinner for tonight sounds delicious. We’ll be barbecuing chicken with some yummy sides.

As to the book, my son who is 29 helps me with the formatting because he is the techy and I am not. I paid to have my first two books published, but he helped me with my last two books on Ingramspark. I don’t have the patience. So, I hope you get the answers you need. Have a wonderful and reflective Memorial Day.

    1. First you are very welcome and SURPRISE! It turned out to be a good race and the finish was awesome. Los lobos, a fantastic listen for me although I have never seen them live, I would like to. Dinner sounds good over there also. and, well you know how I feel about coffee so there’s that. I have signed up with Ingram Sparks and hopefully will be able to get there with a finished product by years end. Thank you for the response and subscribing to my site, it means a lot. Have a blessed day today.
