My Kinda’ Justice

Another entry to Kevin’s NTT

I awoke this morning with my mind at unease
I had a date with a lady that I wanted to please
Shower and shave to be presentable in her eyes
A single rose sent caught her completely by surprise

The phone conversation we had before lunch
Left me feeling giddy and I mean a whole bunch
She was carefree and couldn't wait until we meet tonight
The plans she laid out were for both of our delights

The rest of the day she played on my mind at work
My desiring images of her were pure artwork
Fantasies wove justice in all of the scenes I dreamed
Thoughts of her causing my brain to become unseamed

The aroma of strong coffee helped to bring me awake
Should I have turned down the offer of a new date?
He sounded sincere and with a good sense of humor
And he doesn't look all that bad for being a boomer

While talking to my co-worker I get a amazing surprise
A vase with a single rose nearly brought a tear to my eye
This man has me nervous until I read the attached note
Reservations for two at a restaurant on a riverboat

I make a quick call to say how happy the rose made me
And before I realize what I'm saying, I'm flirting nasty
My Lord, what kind of a girl will do such a wild thing
Done is done I'll see what this dinner will bring

On the river Charles the riverboat glowed in the dusk
Seated at a table lit by a candle smelling like musk
When I first approach the table it is easy for me to see
Their eyes are locked in what could only be sexual energy

I return to the kitchen and hand in their dinner ticket
Make a comment about them and soon I am thick in it
While providing good service to them throughout the meal
It is easy to see how the couple together are so damn ideal

When their dinner is done and they are ready to leave
They tip me well and I set a goal of what I need to achieve
To find a man that will dote on everything that I say or do
That's my kinda' justice, what about you?
