My novel is finally finished but there is one thing left to do
To pen this dedication of the love that I once held in my heart
I do this without caring how it will bring sorrow and pain
Cherishing the relief I now have inside since I'm without you

No faith did you show when you kept cheating around this town
Not caring how it hurt me and sour comments filled the air
I sat alone in this lonely room writing my pain away by night
This is not what I wanted so I'll start over on the next verse down

My novel is finally finished but there is one thing left to do
My dedication is a Dear John letter written just for you
The day that I first saw you my heart simply melted away
I longed for that first embracing kiss on that sunny day

Time flew by without us caring, we walked hand in hand
I was so proud to let people see that you were my only man
As I think about how to phrase these words I write to you
I feel a deep depression of tainted values and being screwed

Six months were spent on a cloud of love that soared so high
The cloud broke up when I caught you in the first of many lies
Replaced by salty tears which I shed when I was alone at night
The next nine months found us in a constant who's right fight 

I will start to recover from this sadness when this page is done
My book will be finished leaving you reading this smoking gun
The last of three hundred pages to be written by a shaking hand
Has nothing to do with the novel but rather a worthless man

But the truth be told I couldn't have done this without you
The nights you were out doing whatever it is that you do
I found myself with a pen and imagination started to flow
The chapters came faster as I wrote in the moon's bright glow

So as I close this novel of fantasy, another year has passed me by
I have no more feelings of caring for a love that was left to die
No longer will I feel like just another worthless chess piece pawn
