Gray Matter

The candles burn, lighting the way into the night
The muse wants to argue with me inside my mind
Saraswati: Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, and art
Becomes agitated as my mind swarms in thought

The broken phone bounces off the shattered mirror
Curtains hanging around waiting for a spark to ignite
My muse telling me that all is not quite as it seems
The fright awaiting to start when I pick up the quill

Glass from a broken mirror can and will cut deep
Thoughts of an angry muse forcing the soul to bleed
A fight of will between a goddess and her fool
Ink stained quill paused, waiting for inspiration
