After work on Thursday night, our crew met at the bar to make sure our plan was still on track. Willie was in the back shooting a game of pool with a stranger as the rest of us sat in a booth while Frances tried to formulate a plan to keep Willie under control.
You see, Willie loves to dance. He thinks disco should be played on all radio stations across the nation. Willie and Frances had won many contests with the most recent one being at the Roll-Over skating rink. The prize for winning this contest was two tickets to see Chuck Berry live in concert on the next Saturday night.
Willie was ecstatic, He couldn’t wait for Saturday to come around knowing that the band opening for Chuck Berry would be a great jamming band called “Cuz”. Willie thought about wearing his skates to the concert but knowing how many people would be there, he decided it might be better to wear his platforms instead. Besides, it would also be easier to drive the car in platforms.
The night of the concert we all met up at our friends ” Boog-a-loo Sue’ s” house. We all were happy and feeling like a great experience was about to happen. As Willie held the door open, Frances entered the room wearing a gorgeous silver organza top filled with sparkles.
As the first band “Cuz” closed their set and Chuck walked up to the microphone, he uttered one of my favorite quotes, “Live like you wanna live Baby!”
What? You were expecting to see Chuck Berry Here? Ha HA, gottcha!
