Looking through the memories collected in cardboard boxes and stuffed in the attic I was getting bored with the task that was placed before me. I was about to call it a day when I came across a journal my mom had written many years ago.

Her play on words amazed me and I soon was enveloped in reading the stories she had jotted down in her younger days. The cursive writing was flawless and the language she used had a strange and calming effect on the reader.

After spending the next couple of hours sitting in that hot attic, sweating and completely engrossed in that journal I became diachronic over the loss of words they had used in their generation and the words we replaced them with. Along with the disappearance of cursive writing and manners I sensed a loss of respect for the art of communication in our modern world. It’s time for us to get on the ball and reverse this state of ignorance.
