Rewind the Rhyme

Let's take a trip back, to the beginning of time
Who was the first to speak rhythm and rhyme
Was it Adam who wrote the first lines of passion
Maybe it was Eve who thought up this new fashion

Was language an issue to make those thoughts appear
Communication for the first couple who loved so dear
In a garden of paradise containing all of their desires
There must have been some words of passionate fire

Repetition of feelings spoken in whispers of quatrains
In the blink of an eye, a snake made all of that change
Maybe this reptile was the one who introduced this style
Wooing in Eve's ear suggesting something sweetly vile

Maybe the style came from far above, from deep space
Did a higher power bless us with this voice of poetic grace
Could Abel have been the first person to speak in rhyme
Taunting his brother to commit the first ungodly crime

In the end it is up to you to form the answer or thought
On what you've come to believe or what you were taught
Poetry remains to remind each and all who care enough
That rhythm and rhyme are best when they are off the cuff
