Simply Sunday

Another post of uncertainty lurking around the dawghouse.

I’m starting this with a poem I wrote yesterday before football started, hope you enjoy.

A Different Piece of Mind

I found Jesus today; he’s been here all along
Peace found in my heart, along with a joyous song
I guess I’ve known this since I was a little child
Not paying attention, I ran free and wild

Feeling I didn’t have to pay heed, dues were amassed through time
Paying them all one by one offers me a softer piece of mind
I awake each day with joy in my heart and a prayer on my lips
Before I lie down at night, I beg forgiveness for my slips

I have figured out on my own that hell is here and now
I have stopped playing and bent my knees to learn how
Searching inside our souls, heaven awaits to be found
Showing kindness and love puts us on track to the holy ground

I found Jesus today; he’s been here all along
Peace found in my heart, along with a joyous song
Keeping me on the straight and righteous way
I bend my knees to Jesus each and every day

That’s a good way for me to start this snowy Sunday, peace and contentment filling my soul. Alabama took a beating yesterday so congratulations to Georgia for winning the conference championship, go dawgs! With that said I await the final selection today at noon to see who is in the play-offs and are contenders for the National Championship, do we have a chance? I can’t say until it is revealed but the odds are not in our favor.

Of course things would get hectic inside the dawghouse if I didn’t do the prompts today and since I’m searching for a peaceful Sunday I offer this to you.

STROBE

As Jenny sat in the outer room of the tattoo shop she was feeling a little nervous. The strobe light flashing in the corner of the room was a little irritating but the humming of the tattoo guns was all together nerve racking. What in the world was she doing inside this shop? Last night she had indulged in too much tequila with her girlfriends and now here she sat waiting on her turn to go behind the curtain.

As Jenny waited on her name to ring out she probed her mind for any reasons not to get up and run out of this shop, back to the safety of her little apartment in the west village. As she thought about this she gently rubbed the lobe of her ear reminding her of the tv show ‘Bewitched” where Sam would grab her ear before doing a spell. As this thought went through her mind she heard her name being called. She nervously got up and started to head into the backroom when one of the artists made a BΓͺtise about enjoying the pain, Jenny would eventually love her new tattoo.
