Sashay On By

This poem was written on 9/1/25 in response to a challenge from the amazing Esther Chilton and Word Daily. I am re-posting it after setting it to AI music.

I put this poem to music with Suno and am posting the MP3. I want to put it on video, but it might take some time. The chorus was added as an afterthought.

Black Cat Strut

A black cat slowly struts by
Bringing a tear of joy to my eye
As the dawn brings morning on
I remember a honky cat song

(CHOURS)
Black cat strut....... sashay on by
Black cat giving you the eye
Black cat strut........

My foot begins steady, fast tapping
Soon, my hands are loudly clapping
I listen along with the cool sound
Of a spell this cat is putting down

(CHOURS)
Black cat strut....... sashay on by
Black cat giving you the eye
Black cat strut........

Pull catnip out as "I'm a gracious host"
Spreading it around on a scratchin' post
I then place some Sheba in a small pile
Because in the end, I am an Ailurophile

(OUTRO)
Black cat strut....... sashay on by
Black cat giving you the eye
Black cat strut

I’m not feeling the prompts today and need to back off from here as the altered visions are taking a break. Have a great day, my friends.
